The Beginning

When I was around 9 years old I read "Anne of Green Gables" by Lucy Maud Montgomery for the very first time. I fell in love with Prince Edward Island and promised myself I would go to visit Green Gables one day in the future. Since I lived in communist Poland back then, hardly anybody took notice of my dream. Years later even I had my own doubts... What is meant to happen, will eventually happen though and some dreams do come true. In my case this particular dream has come true 3 times.  :)

I first went to Prince Edward Island in 2006. There is something very special about dreams coming true. The excitement, the anticipation, the wonder, the magic... When I finally saw a huge sign right off the Confederation Bridge reading "Welcome to Prince Edward Island. Your Vacation Starts Here" I was the happiest person in the world. It took me over 20 years to get there but the best things in life are worth waiting for, aren't they?

There are many kindred spirits out there who may never have a chance to visit Green Gables. I am starting this blog so that everybody who shares my dream can get an idea of what it is like to actually be there. So please visit often as I will be posting my photos from the three visits. I am starting with a few photos I took on September 4, 2006. Enjoy!
