Another interesting homestead on Prince
Edward Island can be found in Park Corner. Grandfather Montgomery's house is
located very close to the Lake of Shining Waters and is believed to be an
inspiration for Ingleside. Young Lucy Maud visited Grandpa Montgomery's house
where she got to see china dogs Gog and Magog (later she used them in the Anne
series) and the rosebud tea set.

The Lake of Shining Waters:
Anne of Green Gables Museum is located across from the Lake of Shining Waters in Park Corner. Young Lucy Maud loved visiting her Uncle John and Aunt Annie Campbell's home called Silver Bush. This is where she spent a lot of happy times with her cousins and this is where she got married on July 5, 1911. After leaving Prince Edward Island Montgomery on numerous occasions helped her relatives save this farm.
Beautiful photos - I have visited both houses but not for some time - nice to see them both again - if I am remembering it right, only the ground floor of Montgomery Manor was open to visitors back then. Thanks so much for posting the photos!
ReplyDeleteYou are very welcome! I am happy you enjoyed them. When I visited the Museum in 2013 right before it closed for good, both floors were open. L.M. Montgomery's bedroom was upstairs.
