Anne of Green Gables Museum

The Anne of Green Gables Museum, located in Park Corner by the Lake of Shining Waters, is a must-see for all Anne Shirley and Lucy Maud Montgomery fans. Maud called the home of her Uncle John and Aunt Annie the "wonder castle of my childhood" and spent a lot of happy times there with her merry Campbell cousins. The house, called “Silver Bush” by the famous authoress, served as her wedding venue – Maud married Rev. Ewan Macdonald in the parlor of this home on July 5, 1911.

The Museum is run by the Campbell family and is filled with artifacts, original furnishings, first editions and photographs – it is a true gem that should not be missed. Some of the highlights include Anne’s Enchanted bookcase, the Blue Chest and its contents from “The Story Girl”, the organ used during L.M. Montgomery’s wedding, the screw Maud used to measure her height by, her “Crazy Quilt” and her “little own bedroom”.

The Anne of Green Gables Museum also offers Matthew’s Carriage Rides by the Lake of Shining Waters – an experience Anne fans will treasure forever.

Prince Edward Island

Prince Edward Island is one of the most beautiful places in the world. Lucy Maud Montgomery loved it and missed it tremendously after moving to Ontario: "Oh, my Island is matchless—matchless. I feel that I did some violence to my spirit in leaving it. I belong here. It is mine—I am its own. It is in my blood. There is a part of me that lives only here." Thousands of visitors come to the Island they learned about from Montgomery's books (all but one of them take place in PEI). I also came for Anne and Maud but keep coming back for the Island...

If you plan to visit PEI, I recommend a wonderful ebook of some of the most breathtaking places on the Island: "A Photographers Guide to Prince Edward Island". John Sylvester and Stephen DesRoches, two exquisite photographers, share their favorite locations to photograph. It is truly worth getting! The ebook can be downloaded here:
